PULSAR® partnered with Positive Planet to measure its carbon footprint for the year ending 31st December 2024. The resulting report tracks emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, in line with internationally recognised standards such as the GHG Protocol, Kyoto Protocol, and DEFRA guidelines.
What do Scopes 1, 2, and 3 mean?
When a business measures its carbon footprint, emissions are grouped into three key categories (Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3), to help identify where environmental impact is coming from:
Scope 1 covers direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company, such as fuel used on site.
Scope 2 includes indirect emissions from purchased energy, like electricity used in offices or warehouses.
Scope 3 accounts for all other indirect emissions across the value chain, from suppliers and transport to employee commuting and product delivery.
This three-scope approach gives a complete picture of our carbon impact, helping to shape meaningful actions for reduction.
PULSAR® Key Results for 2024
Total Carbon Emissions: 346.8 tonnes CO₂e, equivalent to:
-
Driving 188 diesel cars 20 miles per day for 1 year
-
Filling 88 hot air balloons with CO₂
Scope Breakdown:
-
Scope 1 (Direct): 1.9 tCO₂e
-
Scope 2 (Indirect): 31.3 tCO₂e
-
Scope 3 (Supply Chain): 313.7 tCO₂e
Scope 3 accounts for 90.4% of emissions.
Report Highlights
-
55% of electricity is from renewable sources, reducing potential emissions by 37.5 tCO₂e.
-
Electricity emissions rose as renewable use dropped from 2023.
-
Upstream transportation and procurement are the biggest Scope 3 contributors.
Progress Over 3 Years
-
2022: 689 tCO₂e
-
2023: 539.2 tCO₂e
-
2024: 346.8 tCO₂e
We have reduced our carbon footprint by 49.7% since 2022, including a 35.7% drop in the past year alone.
As a company, we are well on our way toward Net Zero, showing clear year-on-year reductions and a strong commitment to sustainability. Scope 3 (Supply Chain) remains our biggest challenge, but also our greatest opportunity for meaningful change.
