October 2014 sees further additions to Praybourne's increasing range of FR-AST & Electric Arc protective clothing, with the introduction of a NEW hi-vis GO/RT orange combat coverall and trouser, following a two year fabric development programme with Protex/Protal partners. This fabric being Protal 5, an enhanced 310gsm patented blend of Protex Modacrylic, FR Viscose, Cotton and other fibres.
Both the fabric & coverall have been tested for ARC Protection and meet EN 61482 Class 1 with an ATPV rating of 16 Cal/cmĀ², almost double the Arc protection of the current product used on the rail network today. Combine this with the existing 9.2 Cal/cmĀ² base layer and you have a 2 layer system that can offer the wearer protection against an arc flash in excess of 25 Cal/cmĀ².
Some of the benefits of Protal 5 are excellent breathability & wicking properties as well as an enhanced electric ARC performance due to its ability to shed the metal electrodes from the ARC blast. This also works well in welding situations, as it sheds sparks and molten metal with ease, extending the life expectancy of the coverall.
The result is a garment meeting the following standards and classifications:
EN ISO 20471:2013
EN ISO 11611:2007
EN ISO 11612:2008
EN 1149-5
IEC 61482 Class 2:2009 Class 1
GO/RT 3279:2013 issue 8
The Coverall structure itself has been designed to give the wearer great functionality with breast, combat and rear pockets, elasticated waist and adjustable cuffs to name but a few. Triple stitched inside leg and front rise seams (all others are double stitched) decreases the
risk of splitting in an area most susceptible meaning fewer on going replacements. Non-conductive plastic studded front storm flap conceals a 2-way plastic zip together with internal knee pad pockets and reflective tape in the chevron design, synonymous with
Praybourne products.
We genuinely believe this to be the most stylish, practical and functional Hi-Viz multi-norm protective coverall and trouser available from stock in Europe, not forgetting about being GO/RT certified.
Almost all of Praybourne's range of FR knitwear has recently been re-certified to the current EN11612 standard and ISO EN20471 where applicable. Arc protective knitwear is also available.
